New tonight is the Bee Hive feature! Be warned: as this feature is new, it is leading to an almost 100% rate of farm shut downs when using it.
Beehives act as yet another constructable building, and you will need 10 each of Beeswax, Bricks, Nails, Smokers, and Wooden Boards to complete it. You will also need a Queen Bee before you may use it. Queen Bees can be found on neighbors’ farms, or they can be bought in the market for 10 Farm Cash. Once completed, the Beehive becomes repository for storing away Honeybees. The more Honeybees you collect, the higher the chance of having your crops pollinated becomes. (More on this in a moment.) Be forewarned, however: you need to tend to your Beehive daily, or your collected Honeybees may leave the hive.
Pollinated crops provide many cool features. They take longer to wither, have a higher chance of yielding bushels, and you can even share pollinated seeds with your friends, which functions similarly to the existing Farmer’s Market feature.
For today’s post, we’ll be breaking down the neighbors system and all that goes with it. From how to add them, to gifting, to even some helpful advice on choosing neighbors, we’ll cover it all!
First, we should differentiate neighbors from friends. “Friends” are all people that you are friends with on Facebook. This can include neighbors, as well as anyone else you have added over the years. ALL of your Facebook friends can see your wall posts unless you specifically set your permissions to exclude them. Likewise, you can give gifts to all of your friends, although it is not recommended to send a gift to people who do not play the game as it can be extremely annoying to non-players. Neighbors, on the other hand, are only the people you know, who you have specifically added as such, that play FarmVille. You are limited to a grand total of 300 neighbors at a given time.
If you wish to have more game neighbors but don’t have any more existing friends that play the game, you can easily find more online. It is recommended that you set your Facebook privacy settings specifically for this purpose, if you go this route, to protect your personal information. For more detailed information, the FarmVille forums have a detailed description on setting your Facebook privacy settings, and a dedicated location for requesting more neighbors.
Toward the end of May, the Farmer’s Market was introduced. While the feature has been around for a while, it did introduce a new aspect to game play, and players continue to fumble with the addition. To that end, we at FarmViller heard your cries and have decided to put together a comprehensive “how to” on the subject.
As this is the first FarmViller “how to”, we figured we should keep it basic. We’ll be covering everything you’ll see when you first start the game and how to interact with it. To the right you’ll see an example of everything you should see the second you start the game. (We’ve removed the farmer to make it easier to understand.) On your farm will be six plots: two plowed, two 50% plots of Eggplant and Strawberries, and two ready-to-harvest plots of Eggplant and Strawberries.
The game’s tutorial, which a beginner should definitely make use of, will help you with learning how to handle plots, so we’ll be covering the other controls.
As much as we love to cover new items at FarmViller, it’s hard to forget that there are new players joining all the time. We were all there, at one point – level 1. It seemed daunting at the time; no idea of how to play, what to do, etc. And yet these poor new players are generally left to figure out the game all on their own, much as we were. Some players even argue that new players should be left on their own, as this is how it’s always been done.
Regardless, FarmViller feels your pain, new players, and so we will be creating an entire new section of “how to” articles solely for you to help feel your way through the game.
